Episode #81 Publicity with Purpose with Heather DeSantis

Today I am pleased to have Heather DeSantis on the show. Heather does Public Relations for small and mid-size companies, in particular entrepreneurs that would like to be internationally known for their cause and mission.

Heather is currently working on a variety of different PR projects including several big media tours for clients.  As well, in honor of Random Acts of Kindness Week, she has created a media campaign contest to drive awareness for a group called In between Girls, which raises awareness for Tween Girls and will allow its founder to share her message nationally and locally in a big way during a period of two weeks.

She also is attending two of the largest media conferences in order to meet some people in the media to best serve her clients.  

Having a great passion for working with people who have a great purpose, Heather is growing a Facebook group called Publicity with Purpose.  This group will be posting free media leads.  Members of the group can comment on the lead links that they feel might be a good fit for them, and Heather and her team will give them free publicity.  

Her start in PR began when she worked at an advertising agency for three years.  There she was involved in media promotions for food brands, NFL networks and Yahoo sports.   She left in June 2015 with full intentions of becoming an entrepreneur.  She began her business in earnest in April 2016.  While there has been great ease in her first year in terms of referrals and growth, there have also been challenges too.  Specifically, in learning what works for her, controlling her spending, not doing what everyone else is doing just because and so on.  

Her model focuses on discovering her client’s key message, who is their ideal consumer, buyer and follower, and find out the most direct way to serve that person.  With the online market being over saturated, Heather brings her clients together with people who really resonate with their message and need them in person.  She also gets her clients’ calendars booked with interviews, and writes their content as well.

Episode #80 Successful Event Planning with Carolien Mertens

Today I am excited to have Carolien Mertens on the show.  Carolien is a live event planner based in Brussels, who has an extensive background in conference planning and has an ever expanding network of contacts around the world.  She plans everything from large group events, right down to smaller retreats with groups of 10-12 participants.

Carolien also hosts an Introduction to the Online World event  for local entrepreneurs so she has been on both sides of event planning.

Event Planning Process

When planning an event for someone, Carolien offers a variety of services, according to the needs of her client. Her fees are based on either a per person flat rate for the management of the event, with a per person fee added on for additional services.  

When starting to plan an event, Carolien interviews her client.  Together, they go over everything from the vision they have, who the participants are, what the agenda is, and the desired outcome.  Location, and budget are major components of the planning, as well as timelines and suppliers needed to bring everything together.  

Return on Investment and Benefits

Carolien shares how entrepreneurs often have great outcomes when they host low cost events, and upsell to a more expensive product, such as 1:1 coaching sessions.  If profit from the event itself is the goal, she suggests having regular tickets that cover the cost of the event, as well as premium tickets where the profit is made.   

There are many benefits that come out of hosting live events.  For the participants, and host alike, a deeper connection is obtained from face to face contact.  Live events also provide an amazing venue for learning a new skill, without interruptions.  And for participants, connecting in person with an influencer is a huge honor, and often life-changing.

Episode #79 Transform Your Performance with Regina Huber

Today I am excited to have Regina Huber on the show.  Regina is the founder of Transform Your Performance.

Regina hosted a talk entitled Choreograph Your Success, in which she shares her passion for dance.  For Regina, dance enhances confidence and presence, and also the relationship between leader and follower.   In her system, Transform Your Performance, she speak of an empowering mindset, a body conscious presence, distinctive uniqueness and effective action.  When you have all of these, you can be an effective leader, both in dance, and in business.  

A very large part of her teaching and coaching involves helping women be visible, and empowers them to be able to speak up and contribute, by exploring all facets including positioning, energy levels and much more.  She also delves into the subconscious mind, where 95%+ of our behavior comes from.

Regina has a book called Speak up, Stand out and Shine: Speak Powerfully in Any Situation,  which contains 26 tools that help anyone show up with more power.  

Regina shares her life experience which has taken her from her native small town in Germany, to Spain, Portugal, Argentina, and Brazil, and now speaks 5 languages (5 ½ if she is in Italy!  :-)).  Throughout all of these moves, dance was always an important part of her work.  

She shares stories of the bureaucracy surrounding having a business abroad, and the challenges she faced. She is now back in Munich after having a less than pleasant experience with a business partnership in Brazil.   She attributes this devastating event as a trigger for an amazing mindset shift, and ultimately the program she has created which encompasses all of her life experience.   She has aim to visit Africa in the near future, and has developed some contacts there.  She would eventually like to teach and speak there and make use of the many languages she has learned.
